My story since HS:
I graduated from Elmhurst College and began teaching third grade at Rhodes School in River Grove, Illinois. I met my husband, Kevin, in 1976 and we were married in 1978. Kevin was transferred to Newtown, Connecticut in 1981. We lived there for 3 years. Our daughter Sarah was born there in 1982. We moved back to Arlington Heights, IL in 1984. I worked as a pre-school teacher for 5 years, then taught kindergarten in Barrington, IL and later second grade in Lincolnshire, IL. We moved to Kildeer, IL in 1994. I worked as a reading assistant for 10 years in Buffalo Grove at Ivy Hall School. Our daughter lived in NYC for many years after graduating from UVA so we spent many weekends in the Big Apple. Sarah was married in 2016 and she and her husband and 2 sons have just moved to Atlanta, GA (much closer for visits since Kevin was transferred to Savannah, GA in 2009). Kevin and I are both retired now and enjoy golfing, biking, traveling and reading. Until Covid hit I volunteered in a kindergarten class once a week, delivered meals to shut-ins once a month and visited a nursing home once a month to sing with the residents. Hopefully, I will be able to return to those activities one day soon. I still keep in touch with Pat Givens and Trisha Dean (A "Patricia Ann" club) and just recently Irene Porowski has moved with her husband to our neighborhood (The Landings on Skidaway Island) just outside of Savannah. We have really enjoyed the warmer weather and southern lifestyle. |
