Occupation: Owner, public relations firm
Comment: I credit AHS for providing me with an excellent education and preparing me well for college and the world.
Spouse/Significant Other: Vince Staten
My story since HS: It is truly difficult to believe it has been 51 years. I have been blessed with a rewarding career, three daughters, six grandchildren and a great husband.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee in Broadcasting and Journalism, I was hired as press secretary for the District 13 U.S. Congressman from Illinois. After Capitol Hill, I did a stint at WBAL-TV-10 Baltimore as general assignment reporter followed by an appointment to Managing Editor of the White House News Summary in the White House, Executive Office of President Gerald Ford. A year later, I became Deputy Assistant to the Deputy Press Secretary. It was an incredible time in history as I was able to travel with the president as well as with the advance team and security detail. After the 1976 election, a great opportunity came along at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of the U.S. where I served as Director of Legislative and Political Issues.

My daughters were born and I decided it was time to stop commuting to DC and stay closer to home in the Northern VA suburbs. I worked as pr/communications director at a large healthcare facility. In later years, I moved to Tennessee became director of communications for a symphony orchestra. We are still working. We own a public relations firm serving a variety of local and national clients. We edit books, handle PR for various organizations and manage seasonal festivals.

To keep me sane while working in DC politics, I have directed many choirs over the years: children, adult and show choirs of all ages.
Number of grandchildren: 6

John Manos

Marital status: Married
Occupation: self-employed writer and editor
Spouse/Significant Other: Leah Johnson-Manos
My story since HS: I graduated from Knox College and took another degree from the University of Chicago many years later. Worked a variety of jobs in western Colorado, Seattle, and New Orleans before settling back in Chicago. Worked as editor-in-chief of a consumer magazine for 20 years and switched to full-time freelance writing in 2000. Since then have written six documentary and feature films (none on screens - urgent memo for beginning screenwriters: make sure you get paid, because you're at the very bottom of the food chain), and my first novel, DIALOGUES OF A CRIME, came out in 2013. The next novel is scheduled for publication in 2020. For the last couple of years, my band, Late Breaking News, played twice a month at an Evanston tavern. Presumably, we'll resume the schedule when the pandemic issues are behind us. It has all been a lot of fun. Now we spend about a quarter of our time at an 1850 farm in central Kentucky. Why we bought it at the end of 2013 remains a mystery.

Comment: Have fun at the reunion.  Sorry I can't attend.
Spouse/Significant Other: Martin
My story since HS: Graduated from Texas Christian University with degrees in French in Journalism. Spent my Advertising/PR career in the Dallas area.

Married late - age 35 - to a Ft. Worth native. I have two stepchildren who have given us four grandchildren.

We had two of our own who now work in the North Texas. You may see my son on The Weather Channel or other news sources, as he is a well-respected storm chaser.

After staying home to raise my kids, I finally started using my French degree as a substitute teacher for high school French in Plano. Eventually moved over to Special Ed.

I've battled - and won - two bouts with cancer.

We moved to East Texas for retirement, golf, boating, etc. Enjoying the serenity of the Piney Woods!
